To help the public and donors learn about ground-breaking brain science research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, “Brain Talk” was created: a three-minute weekly radio feature airing on select NPR affiliates and streaming on the BSi website. From 2012-2013, Mimi interviewed 65 scientists, synthesizing their findings into radio scripts read by host Dale Connolly. Topics ranged from seasonal affective disorder to schizophrenia.
To promote its corporate responsibility, Pfizer sponsored “A Healthier World,” a daily radio feature on global health issues airing on 400 commercial radio networks across the US from 2004-09. Mimi wrote, produced and voiced the 1min 30 second feature, which became the #1 downloaded podcast on global health issues on iTunes in 2008 and 2009.
“More Time,” a weekly radio show on XM radio from 2007-08, helped More Magazine reach a wider audience. As managing editor and producer, Mimi coordinated show content with the magazine and directed the in-studio sessions. The show was given a Gracie award for “Best Magazine Radio Show.”
As a former radio news correspondent for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Paris and New York, Mimi remains a CBC contributing reporter. Here’s her recent report on music journalist Alan Light’s book investigating the popularity of Leonard Cohen’s iconic song, Hallelujah.
